The IST is a thumb-operated trackball that combines an ergonomic shape for comfortable operation with incredibly smooth control. Its ergonomic design allows for natural hand positioning without needing a firm grip, making it comfortable to use regardless of hand size or grip style.
The support unit employs high-performance bearings manufactured by MinebeaMitsumi. This reduces friction, resulting in smooth ball control that feels as if the ball is floating in mid-air. Furthermore, because the ball surface is not rubbed, less debris accumulates in the support unit, allowing for long-term, maintenance-free use.
The support unit is easily removable and can be replaced with bearings or even artificial rubies. *Replacement bearing units (M-BS10) and artificial ruby units (M-RS10) are sold separately.
It features five buttons, including "forward" and "back" buttons, which are convenient for navigating web browsers and folders. Button functions can be changed using the free downloadable "ELECOM Mouse Assistant" software.
