The Tolmekian armored soldiers from "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" are now available as Takeya-style articulated figures!
"Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," a masterpiece that had a profound impact on the history of animation, was created by Hayao Miyazaki, who drew the original manga and also directed the film.
The armored soldiers who accompanied Kushana, the commander of the Tolmekian army that suddenly attacked the Valley of the Wind where Nausicaä lives, and who symbolized the strength of Tolmekia with their formidable appearance, have now been transformed into action figures in the Takeya-style articulated figures series.
The heavy armor, which has a design reminiscent of Western armor but uses ceramic as its material, has been redesigned by Takayuki Takeya.
By incorporating ideas and designs expressed not only in the animation but also in the original comic book version, it has been given a realism that makes it look like actual armor.
The addition of decorative details and shape expressions to each part gives it an air of dignity befitting an armor worn by a royal guard.
The Tolmekian armored soldier's distinctive, somewhat stocky yet robust proportions, capable of deflecting enemy attacks, are faithfully reproduced.
Highly poseable, the multi-layered armor is cleverly divided and articulated, allowing for dynamic poses such as the sword-wielding and axe-wielding scenes seen in the series.
In addition to the large sword sheathed at the side, a combat axe and a large shield are included, allowing for the recreation of various battle scenes from the animation and original manga.
The armor's coloring is achieved through metallic paint, creating a sense of weight and solidity befitting heavy armor.
Movable joints are incorporated into the shoulder and neck plates, ensuring a poseable design.
Details such as the fasteners for securing the armor and the gambeson (protective jacket) worn underneath are also faithfully reproduced.
Details such as the belt for hanging the large sword, with its practical pouches, are faithfully recreated from the original comics.
The chainmail around the waist is articulated, allowing for a wider leg spread than it appears. The kusazuri (skirt-like armor) at the front of the waist also features a movable joint at its base.
The cape, while fixed for its shape, is articulated at the base, allowing for more dynamic posing.
The handles of the axe and sword feature added shapes and details seen in the original comics. The axe blade, in particular, incorporates details that suggest its manufacturing process.
The large shield features a retractable claw-like mechanism from the original comics, which can be deployed and retracted.
