Pit-Road 1/700 Skywave Series Imperial Japanese Navy Special Cruiser Aikoku Maru 1941 Plastic Model W272. The Aikoku Maru was the second Hokoku Maru-class cargo-passenger ship built under the Excellent Shipbuilding Subsidy Facility for military use. It was completed as a cargo-passenger ship on August 31, 1941, but was requisitioned by the Navy the following day and converted into a special cruiser. The Aikoku Maru formed the 24th Squadron with the Hokoku Maru and engaged in commerce raiding operations. This 1/700 scale plastic model can be built as either a surface model or a full-hull model. Choose between the 1941 version equipped with a single 15cm gun after conversion to a special cruiser, or the 1942 version equipped with a shielded 14cm gun.
