Product Introduction
Haruna's final battle in the Pacific War, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, is now available with new parts!
This is an unpainted kit requiring assembly and painting.
This is a 1/700 scale underwater model that does not include the ship's bottom.
This product is constructed using the same molds as the previous (special series) and newly designed additional parts.
The battleship Haruna was the oldest of the five Kongō-class battleships that fought in the Pacific War, and was the third ship of the class, completed in 1915 at the Kawasaki Shipyard in Kobe.
With a length of 222m and a beam of 29.04m, it was equipped with eight 35.6cm 45-caliber guns. After undergoing two refits, this battleship was known for its high speed, achieving a speed of 30.5kt.
With the outbreak of the Pacific War, it participated in the Southern Front and accompanied the Task Force in the Indian Ocean Campaign.
During the Battle of Guadalcanal, she participated in many memorable operations, including naval gunfire on airfields alongside the third battleship, the Haruna.
After participating in the Battle of Leyte Gulf (Operation Sho-Ichi-Go) in October 1944, she returned to the mainland, where she was heavily damaged in an air raid in July 1945 and sunk to the bottom, marking the end of the war.
●This product is based on the third Kongo-class battleship, the Haruna, from Operation Sho-Ichi-Go in October 1944, in her most heavily armed anti-aircraft armament.
- Equipped with a Type 21 radar on top of the bridge, two Type 13 radars on the mast, and numerous 25mm machine guns on the upper deck.
- Newly designed parts have been provided to standardize the differences in the level of reproduction of equipment etc. depending on the product release date, and some have been separated to take paint work into consideration.
- The Type 13 radar has a sculpted truss structure, and the shape of the antenna is also recreated, with new parts including the struts protruding on both sides.
- The No. 21 radar is delicately sculpted down to the base of the insulator used to secure the elements on the front.
- The No. 22 radar is made using a slide mold to create a part that shows the open state, and it is also possible to create an extended trumpet shape.
- The 12.7 cm Twin Anti-Aircraft Gun Type A1 is subdivided into four parts, improving the modeling resolution from the existing two-part product.
- The 9 meter cutter is made into two parts to allow for paintability, and the deck mount is available as a separate part, or you can choose between an integrated deck mold.
- The 12 meter motorboat has the canvas and wheelhouse/engine room canopy made into separate parts to allow for paintability. Each part is painted and then assembled and glued later.

- New sidelights and life buoys are provided. The former is to unify the sizes of each ship, while the latter is to add additional detail to previously omitted parts.

- The Type 96 25mm twin machine gun is now a standard two-part part, reducing the amount of painting required.

- The portholes, a characteristic of the late war, are depicted with convex molding to represent their blocked appearance.
- The upper deck is a single-piece structure with intricate wooden deck carvings.

- The funnel is a two-part structure, with the left and right sides glued together.

- The funnel caps are removed and have a precise structure.
- The front side of the main turret is a Haruna/Kirishima-specific part with its distinctive curved shape.
- The main gun barrel and canvas are one piece, with fixed elevation and depression angles.
- The main gun barrel is open thanks to the use of a slide mold.
- Two Zero-type observation seaplanes are included as floatplanes, molded in gray.
