Voigtlander NOKTON 50mm F1 Aspherical RF-mount

The NOKTON 50mm F1 Aspherical is Cosina's first Canon RF mount lens with electronic contacts, and is an ultra-fast manual focus standard lens that achieves the brightest F1 of any Voigtländer full-frame interchangeable lens. Covering the full-frame image circle, its optical design follows that of existing VM mount and Nikon Z mount lenses, but is optimized for the image sensor of Canon EOS R system cameras.*1 This lens does not rely on the camera's electronic lens aberration correction function, but instead captures the performance of the lens itself in the image. This lens is equipped with electronic contacts, enabling electrical communication between the lens and the camera body. To ensure sufficient imaging performance even at maximum aperture, a GA (ground aspherical) lens manufactured in-house was used, resulting in a lens with a compact style despite its ultra-large F1 aperture. Furthermore, by adopting a floating mechanism that moves specific lens groups to the optimal position depending on the shooting distance, stable image quality is achieved from the minimum focusing distance to distant subjects. The minimum focusing distance is 0.45m, and focusing is manual. The metal focus ring features a diamond pattern for excellent grip. Another feature is the greased, silky feel of the high-precision metal helicoid, which can withstand even the most demanding focusing at wide apertures. The aperture is mechanically controlled via a direct connection to the operation ring, and is adjusted on the lens rather than the camera's command dial. The aperture ring has a click switching mechanism, allowing for stepless opening and closing of the aperture without being affected by clicks when shooting video or finely adjusting the depth of focus. The lens has 12 aperture blades, which ensures a clean depiction of out-of-focus areas of point light sources. A dedicated metal lens hood is also included.
