This work, depicting the adventures of the giant hero Big X, was serialized in Shueisha's "Shonen Book" magazine from 1963 to 1966. Set in Japan in 1965, roughly the same time as the original serialization, the story unfolds with a battle for a new drug being developed by Nazi Germany. The story skillfully weaves elements of Tezuka's signature sci-fi and action-packed action-packed genres, as well as elements of fictional war stories and espionage stories. Its unique appeal captivated countless readers.

When it first appeared, it was serialized across Shueisha's "Shonen Book" magazine and its supplementary volumes. However, like many of Tezuka's works, such as "Astro Boy" (1952-68), extensive additions and revisions were made when the work was published in book form, making it impossible to read in its original form for a long time.

Now, with the full cooperation of Tezuka Productions, we have collected and scanned every page of the "Shonen Book" magazine and its supplements in which this work was published (approximately 1,950 pages: 23 issues of the magazine and 24 supplements). The pages, which have deteriorated over time, have been thoroughly restored and compiled into a book as "Big X" in the original quality with the highest readability ever. Until now, "Big X" could only be read by looking at a physical copy of "Shonen Book," but now, for the first time, it will be available in book form.
