Introduction
This is the sixth installment of the "Single Collection Series," an archive of singles by popular pop artists active primarily in the 1960s and 1970s.
Naomi Chiaki debuted with "Ame ni Nureta Boujou" (Longing Away in the Rain) on Columbia in 1969 and won the Japan Record Award in 1972 for "Kachai."
She remained with Columbia until 1978, then transferred to Victor, where she focused on jazz and fado. In 1988, she transferred to Teichiku Records, where she returned to pop music, producing hits such as "Kurenai Tonbo" and actively pursuing a career as a singer. However, following the death of her husband, she took a hiatus from all entertainment activities, a hiatus that continues to this day.
This "Chiaki Naomi Single Collection" features all 28 A-side singles released by Columbia, chronologically, including "Ame ni Nureta Boujou," "Yontsu no Negai," "Kachō," "Night Flight," "Sadame River," "Sakaba River," "Yagiri no Watashi," "Rouge," and "Yoru e Hakugu Hito."
It also includes selected B-side tracks not included in the 6-CD box set "Chiaki Naomi Collection ~Hey You" released in 2000.
The accompanying booklet includes commentary, discography, and album cover photos.
