・【Contents】Drift driving, a car culture originating from the streets of Japan. It began as a pastime of sliding the rear of a front-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle from side to side on narrow mountain passes, but is now globally recognized as a motorsports competition staged on circuits. Many of the competition vehicles are Japanese cars, but front-engine, rear-wheel drive cars equipped with large-displacement V8 engines, such as the Ford Mustang, are also popular. [Hot Wheels] chose as its motif the Spec 5 drift vehicle created by RTR Motorsports, a race car garage led by charismatic American drift racer Van Gitten Jr. It is equipped with a 7.1-liter V8 engine and is known for its dynamic performance, having won the series championship in the American Formula D in 2020.
