East Africa Zanzibar is also known as a cultural crossroads between Asia, Arabia, and Africa. Swahili pop music “tarab,” which developed along the East African coast, has become established in the same area. This tarab is mixed music that combines elements of Arab, Indian, and African music, and the fusion of these three different elements creates a mysterious flavor. This work is the Western debut (1998 original release) by the super veteran female singer Bi Kidude, who has been singing Tarlove since the 1920s. From the latter half of the 1980s to the 90s, she visited Europe multiple times, and this work contains sound sources from that time. (C) RS
