"Blue Rose" has been loved for over 90 years since its design was first created in 1928. To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Blue Rose and the 100th anniversary of the founding of Okura Pottery, this new Blue Rose series combines it with "Ruri."
"Blue Rose" expresses the beauty of the gracefully growing vines and vibrant roses through the mysterious colors created by the art of flame, and is a design that can be said to be synonymous with Okura Touen, beloved even today since its creation in 1928. At a time when it was believed impossible to make blue roses bloom naturally, Okura Touen's "Blue Rose" represented this miracle. The beauty of the gently blooming deep blue, blended into the white porcelain using the "Oka dyeing" technique, is a sight to behold.
"Oka dyeing" is a technique unique to Okura Pottery. Cobalt pigments are applied to a fired white porcelain, which is then fired again in a kiln at the world's highest temperature of approximately 1,460 degrees. This allows the pigments to sink into the glaze, creating a unique, deep, deep blue color. This technique shines especially with Okura Pottery's world-renowned white porcelain. Because the pigments blend into the glaze, the surface is lustrous and smooth. You can use it with confidence, knowing it will last a long time. It also matches the "Blue Rose (8011)" series, and there are many variations. It also makes a great gift.
