Tamiya 1/700 Waterline Series No. 409 Japanese Navy Destroyer Shimakaze Plastic Model 31409

This is a plastic assembly model kit of the Shimakaze, a destroyer completed in 1941. It boasted a 3,000-ton hull, a 7,500-horsepower steam turbine engine, an official speed of 40.9 knots, the world's fastest, and a high level of torpedo capability. It has been recreated in the style of its upgraded armaments from late 1944. Shimakaze possessed both high speed and impressive offensive power, and this model precisely recreates not only her three twin 12.7cm main guns, but also her three quintuple 61cm torpedo tubes, a distinctive feature of hers. Die-cast parts are included for the bottom of the ship to add a sense of weight. Overall length when completed is 185mm. This plastic model requires assembly and painting.
